One of our latest arrivals at Martlesham Models is the fantastic newly tooled Revell Avro Lancaster (1:72). Kit no.RV04300. This new release has been eagerly awaited by the modelling fraternity and well publicised in the modelling press.

Revell have created new tools for this release and the detail and and quality is just superb.

Full reviews will be available in the modelling press very soon but the initial impression of this kit is just outstanding. Hasegawa have always been the leader in the Avro Lancaster kit range but Revell has sent a serious challenge to Hasegawa kit with the release of this kit.

The four-engined Avro Lancaster was without doubt the most famous of all the RAF heavy bombers in World War II. From 1942 it formed the backbone of the night bombing offensives deep into Germany and gained its fame through the sinking of the Tirpitz and the destruction of the Möhne and Eder dam.

The Avro Lancaster was able to carry loads of up to 9,980 kg of bombs, the heaviest individual one being the "Grand Slam".

The Avro Lancaster was in service up to 1945 in 68 RAF Bomber Command squadrons and flew over 156,000 sorties. Out of a total of 7,300 aircraft produced almost half were lost.

Today only two airworthy examples exist, one in Great Britain (as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) and the other in Canada.

The kit if finely moulded and made to the usual high standard we have come to expect from Revell.

- Super decals for 3 RAF versions for Mk.I and Mk.III
