The Lynx is a multi role combat helicopter created as a result of a joint venture between England and France. Two basic versions are in production the utility or Army Lynx and the naval Lynx.

The British Army Lynx operates in an anti-tank and troop carrying role. The missile operator sits alongside the pilot in the left hand seat controlling the missiles via a stabilised sight.

In the transport role a section of ten men can be carried or a load not exceeding 3000lb can be slung underneath (such as a 105mm light gun).

The Lynxs performance was demonstrated in June 1972 when it set a world speed record for the fastest helicopter in its class. Obtaining an average speed of 200mph.

Powered by two 900 shaft horse power Rolls Royce Gem engines. The Lynx operates in an anti-tank and troop carrying role for the British Army.

The kit is the usual Airfix quality with good instructions and a small sheet of decals. I decided to make the Army version as my friend used to work on the real thing in the Army Air Corp.

The kit went together well. The only slight dissapointment was the fit of the clear glass and side windows. I ran out of time and the fit of the canopy was not ideal before I had to give it away. But with sometime spent on it you should be able to get a good fit.

Overall a satisfying kit to make. Quality is good with some nice detail. There are several detail and correction kits out there if you really want to make a show quality model.
